Our Girls -Our Pride program is being implementing in the 195 Garm Panchayats of Most backwards block of Ratanpura In Mau District and manihari and varachawar Block of Ghazipur District of Uttar Pradesh. The Project was aimed to address the adolescents centred issue through empowering them in the shape of the strong groups and to build their capacity such a way that they could be able to address the issues and take the initiative towards adolescents’ rights and empowerment. The Project addressed the challenges with adolescents at all levels. The Project is addressing the Following Objectives.

Promoting Girls agency and mobility
Staying at School
Addressing gender based violence
Improving Sexual and Reproductive Health
Working with men and Boys and Promoting inter- gender Dialogue.

Challenges ,Efforts and Outcome under Adolescents Empowerment

Critical Issues faced by the Girls

Gender-based Violence, Burden of Household chores
Negative cultural attitudes and practices against the girl child
Limited Employment Opportunities, Mobility Barriers, fear of getting harassed in outstations.
Poor Access to Higher Education, Lack of Educational investment vision of parents among girls.( After the COVID-19 There are a challenging numbers of Girls who have been dropped out in the middle of the graduation courses and that’s leads the probability of getting early marriage.
Poor Health expenditure and planning for girls in families and poor implementation of Govt services.(RKSK etc).

Key Efforts Made Against Issue

Group Formation and collectivization the girls for common cause
.Development of Girls Icon as change leaders and encouraging them through providing the fellowship.
Identification and listing of school drop out Adolescent girls and Organizing the intensive counselling sessions with parents.
Capacity building of Girls on various forms of Gender Based Violence
Encouraging the Girls to interrupt the violence and consider it unacceptable.
Identification the girls from vulnerable circumstances and Vocational Skills development these Adolescent girls
Formation of male support Groups and their Regular meetings..

Key Outcome Achieved

75% Adolescent girls from the kishori Groups are enabled to ensure their agency, their mobility barriers are removed.
There are 25700 Girls who have been well covered during the intervention through various efforts ,sensitization ,training ,exposure and counselling on Agency Building, Gender and Human Rights ,menstrual hygiene ,Education, Self defense , & Leadership Development.
Total 2150 Young change leaders have been identified and trained.
70% Adolescent girls realizing their basic ,Adopting precautionary measures in reproductive health and hygiene needs

Adolescent girls of Groups have talked about their life choices

A Good Number of Skilled girls who have been covered through vocational training are contributing and supporting to their family.

Girls have opposed against various incidents of violence in their family and community.

Our Girls Our Pride has achieved the several remarkable milestones on the way of Adolescent Empowerment. Girls Fellows are working as a local squad of transforming the lives of the other girls through mobilizing them. The conceptualization of the Girls fellows is one of them. During the Intervention it was analyzed that Some of the leaders are vibrant and need a further encouragement to lead their initiative and be a role model for the community girls. The Project brainstormed and took decision that there is a emerging need to involve them in community mobilization and adolescent empowerment practices and a fellowship intervention can minimize the vulnerability factors in the area and coverage of local leaders through fellowship grant will ensure new champion from the community and they would be a source of motivation for other girls. Total 25 Fellows are working in 75 Gram panchayat of Mau district These fellows are from the 25 Different clusters. These fellows have achieved the certain milestone and have taken the innovative initiatives. They are playing the active role in the community through providing the correct information on age at marriage,Education,Girls related health issues, Girls mobility, Gender, nutrition and other girls related issues.

USHA Silai Schools are community based initiatives with the aim of empowering village women to become entrepreneurs through sewing and setting up sewing schools at their own villages . Gramin Vikas sansthan has partnered with USHA and sets up Silai Schools in the Districts of Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Mau, Varanasi and Jaunpur in the most remote and rural corners. GVS facilitate and support USHA to identify, set up and motivate village women to join these schools where they are trained in sewing and given a free sewing machine. Its aimed that they in turn teach and train other women forming a network of self-reliant and enterprising women. And that’s not all. Every time someone buys an USHA sewing machine, more than 1% of that sale amount is used to enhance and further develop the Silai School Program.
Everyday USHA Silai Schools are helping hundreds of women in sewing and entrepreneurial skills and thereby changing their lives.

Organization has covered more than 4500 families through ration and other support during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

• Total 340 Girls during the Program has been supported financially to start their career opportunities.

• Organisation has developed more than 2000 Volunteers in Mau Ghazipur and Azamgarh District.

• Total 407 Early Marriage protest have been reported between April 2017 to March 2022.

• Total 5000 Equanis owner families have been covered through the different intervention.

• GVS Has mobilized 28000 Families in Mau ,Ghazipur District through the different development intervention during the last 5 years .

• GVS has trained more than 976 Community Support Groups Leaders in which around 6600 members are directly covered through different intervention.

• Organization has covered more than 120000 Community people through community mobilization events and campaigns.

• Organisation has its implementation among 1200 School teachers in in Mau and ,Ghazipur.

• GVS Has established 5 Smart classes for girls in Azamgarh to ensure the quality of education.
